A Queensland father has been shot dead and a second man attacked with a hammer during a home invasion southwest of Brisbane in the early hours of this morning.
A group of up to four men broke into the home at Gleneagle near Beaudesert about 6am and shot 48-year-old father Michael Menzel in the leg. He died at the scene.His 13-year-old daughter was home at the time and witnessed the shooting. "She's seen paramedics working really hard trying to keep him alive, significant blood loss, so she's got the trauma of that to deal with," Jim Ploughman of Queensland Police said."I hope she gets the justice she wants for this, and she knows there are people here that will support her through this."
