The daughter of Floreat killer Mark Bombara says she and her mother fled their family home in fear of their lives and tried repeatedly to warn police about him.The state government is considering further amendments to tough new anti- gun laws currently before Parliament
Mr Papalia said Bombara had no prior convictions and was only known to police because his ex-partner had requested their attendance when she removed belongings from their property in early April because of previous family domestic violence related issues which were not formally reported to police.
In speaking to officers, Ms Bombara said she asked police if she and her mother could take out a 72-hour temporary protective order but was told "there was nothing police could do about the situation at the time". The WA government says it will consider making its proposed new firearm laws even tougher after two women were murdered in their home. But could the changes have stopped their killer?"I think we'll be acting earlier to remove firearms from premises where there's potential for harm to be done," Mr Papalia said yesterday.
"There needs to be a massive systemic change made to protect women to ensure that this never happens again," she said.Ariel Bombara has spoken about how she tried to warn authorities about the behaviour of her father, Mark James Bombara."I felt like we had been sort of failed by the system and naively thought that they were going to help us. We are very disappointed."
