Melbourne's coronavirus restrictions will start being eased from 11:59pm tomorrow, Premier Daniel Andrews says.
The 25-kilometre limit on travel will be axed, and the border between Melbourne and regional Victoria will be removed, allowing intrastate travel again.Face coverings will remain mandatory and people will still be encouraged to work from home if possible.The last time Victoria had zero cases was June 9, 139 days ago.Over the course of this weekend, we asked Victorians living in our northern suburbs to get tested. They did just that.
As we take these steady steps towards reopening, the message remains the same: Please stay safe and if you have symptoms, you must get tested. Under the Third Step, Melbourne's cafes, restaurants and pubs can reopen. Outdoors with a limit of up to 50, indoors up to 20. Density limits, record keeping and COVIDSafe Plans also apply.
Same old story and a sure way to gradually take away freedom, bit by bit - They take away everything, then give a little back. Take away more, then give a little back. An ongoing cycle where the population will be grateful just for some sort of 'normality'.

Now we can just hope that the people of Melbourne learned from this. Compliance with basic infection control measures like masks, distancing, hygiene will prevent another lockdown in the future. I really hope people think about this.

Instead of his patronising thanks to Victorians, he should be apologising for the 800+ deaths, economic devastation, business closures, job losses & mental health trauma that his govt caused through the hotel quarantine debarcle. This is & will be Premier Daniel Andrews legacy.
