Former Victorian Premier Jeff Kennett has told Sky News, Daniel Andrews is punishing Victorians and “whipping this society to death” through his inconsiderate extension of restrictions. Mr Kennett said a critical aspect of Melbourne and Victorian society which has been missing because of the premier’s actions is football. “We’ve been denied the finals, and the MCG will be silent, empty, on Saturday,” he said.
Mr Kennett said the Grand Final weekend could have been the beginning of a new hopeful chapter for the city, but the premier has maintained restrictions will still be in place and has urged Victorians not to get carried away. “All as a result of this government’s failure, and yet they could have used this weekend as the start of the rebuilding of hope and optimism,” Mr Kennett said.
