NRL: South Sydney Coach Jason Demetriou resists making wholesale changes despite winless start to season.

Eels coach Brad Arthur has named a shock replacement to step into the halves alongside Dylan Brown with the club reeling from the news that Mitch Moses could miss up to three months with a fractured foot.

After playing in the centres against the Sea Eagles, Blaize Talagi will now wear the No.6 alongside Dylan Brown who has shifted to halfback. Even the Tigers, who struggled for depth in the playmaking ranks in 2023, now have both Jayden Sullivan and Latu Fainu who can slot in if called upon. However, Arthur may look to the market for a specialist No.7. later this season and in years to come to improve his squad’s depth. Most recently Jack Cogger had an incredibly successful one-year stint at the foot of the mountain, winning a premiership and becoming an unsung hero in the grand final following Jarome Luai’s shoulder injury.

He signed a two-year deal to return to the NRL after a stint with Hull KR in the Super League, having previously played 12 games across three seasons with the Raiders. With injuries to Scott Sorensen and James Fisher-Harris, an opportunity arose for a middle forward to join the bench and Ivan Cleary knew he had the perfect man.

Geyer is yet another player who has emerged through the club’s junior system, having featured in Harold Matthews, SG Ball, Jersey Flegg and most recent NSW Cup teams.Foxsports.com.au was informed that his first few hit-outs of the season were all about getting kilometres in his legs due to a disrupted pre-season.

In his defence, it’s hard to when the entire team played poorly with the Roosters thrashing their arch rivals 48-6. Oates, who has played the vast majority of his career on the wing, started his NRL career in the back row in 2013 before former Broncos coach Wayne Bennett shifted him to the flank when he arrived in 2015.Other than the odd game in the back row for the Broncos since Bennett left in 2018, Oates has plied his trade in the backline.

Not only have they performed woefully on the field, outscored 60-4 across their two heavy losses to lowly teams , but now face the rest of the season without their skipper and best player Tino Fa’asuamaleaui, who suffered a ruptured ACL in the Round 3 loss to the Bulldogs.
