As Drought conditions worsen an Australian Dairy farmer has warned there will be no Australian dairy industry unless “something changes very, very, very quickly”. 9News

Dairy farmers are warning that if consumers continue to pay less than $1.50 a litre for milk, the local industry will collapse.

Dairy farmer Joe Bradley is the fourth dairy farmer in his family. He says conditions have never been this bad. "At the time, it helped. It actually put some more money back in our pockets and that was a life saver. But this drought, as I said, is unprecedented. It has just got worse and worse," he added.

"I just don't know where it's going to end up. We're not going to have a sustainable Australian dairy industry and you're not going to have fresh Australian dairy products unless something changes very, very quickly. Joe Bradley says that cost cutting o of leading supermarkets over the last decade has meant that there is "no fat" in the industry.

Since September last year, Coles has raised more than $13 million for Australian dairy farmers through price increases on Coles brand milk. We are continuing to collect 10 cents per litre on sales of Coles Brand 2 litre and 3 litre milk to raise additional funds to assist dairy farmers.
