Crown Resorts chairwoman Helen Coonan has apologised to shareholders for the failures in governance and risk management that have thrown the casino group into crisis | pwhatch

at its Melbourne and Perth casinos, ignored evidence its "junket" high-roller tour partners were involved in organised crime, and failed to protect its employees in China from arrest despite clear warning signs they were at risk. The inquiry will consider whether Crown should keep the licence for its new casino in Sydney, which is set to open in December.

"We acknowledge we have more to do to meet this objective, and over the past year the board has actively pursued a range of improvements. Having a gaming licence is a privilege that we as an organisation do not take for granted." "Shareholders have given a clear and powerful message that board renewal is required, and the board accepts this feedback. Changes will be made."

Prominent institutional shareholder Perpetual, which owns 9 per cent of Crown's shares will vote against the re-election of three directors up for re-election, while the Australian Council of Superannuation Investors encouraged its members, which own about 7 per cent of Crown's shares, to also vote against the directors' re-election.

Jamal Khashoggi's fiancee files lawsuit against Saudi Crown Prince over 'brutal and brazen' killingThe family of slain Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi files a US lawsuit accusing Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of personally ordering the journalist's brutal execution in order to silence the high-profile government critic. There's a good podcast about the Trumps and the Saudis on ABC's America if you're listening. all over the world, the government orders secret killings..not sure if any country can claim they not done the same in the last 50 years in the name of safety and protection. The USA does it in a more refined way like how it does to Julian ..lol. No probs, the UN will handle it, giving them a seat on human rights and all. I expect you’ll hear nothing.

Inquiry into Crown is a 'very big deal for Crown, a very big deal for Packer' | Sky News AustraliaThe Herald Sun Business Columnist Terry McCrann says James Packer and Crown are in a “world of pain” amid a current inquiry because if there’s a negative outcome, “it will reverberate around the country”. \n\nThere is now an inquiry into whether Crown and Australian businessman James Packer are fit to hold the gambling license in New South Wales for the Barangaroo casino that was intended to open in December.\n\n“It’s great to see we not only have embarrassment and red faces in Melbourne, there’s just as much embarrassment in Sydney at this inquiry,” Mr McCrann said. \n\n“Crown and James Packer are both in a world of pain.\n\n“It’s very clear now there has to be some sort of penalty applied to crown.\n\n“This inquiry is just to see whether Crown is a fit and proper corporate person to hold the license for the Barangaroo Casino in Sydney, scheduled to open in December, but clearly, if they get a negative outcome in relation to Barangaroo, this will reverberate around the country. \n\n“It’ll reverberate around its fitness to hold the license in Melbourne, and also the smaller casino in Perth.\n\n“This is a very, very big deal for crown, it’s very, very big deal for Packer.”\n Internationally as well. All gaming licensees may get investigated & can be cancelled. How far back does this go?
