“It’s certainly not a reflection of the way I want to lead this team. We’ve set high standards over the last few months and … I’m bitterly disappointed.
“I’ve got to cop that on the chin. It’s certainly not a reflection of how I want to do it going forward.Another criticism of Paine was that given all of the talk he was giving behind the stumps, he wasn’t able to back it up, dropping the most catches he ever has in an innings since coming into the Australian team for the 2017/18 Ashes series.
“So I was fully expecting it and as I said this morning and yesterday, I’m happy to cop that on the chin. “For me, the most important thing is that I understand where I went wrong and how I can improve and I had some pretty honest conversations with JL and our staff last night and moved on to how I can improve for the Gabba.”He also revealed he spoke to Ashwin after the game to clear the air and insisted there was no lingering bad blood between the pair.
Cricket is so so boring...hurry up and finish already
One thing is for sure, Ashwin didn’t deny what Paine said.
Time to retire
What utter rubbish. “Extraordinary.”
it his tactics that needs work. green looks ineffective when bowling, and slowly trudges back to his mark every ball. starc was useless yesterday. labuchagne can only land 3 balls an over.
saving face, sack him after the series is done and get Carey in as w/keeper.
I honestly wish the talk was about that amazing test match!! One of the best tussles I have seen for a long time. Shame it has to be about the negative, it was a great advertisement for test cricket.
This is a total sideshow, the issue yesterday wasn’t Paine’s sledging, it was his poor tactics as captain. Odd bowling changes or lack thereof, bad fielding placements and bad fielding from him and others.

Tim Paine acknowledged his behaviour, owned it and apologised... that is what real captains do... What a damn shame our politicians can't do the same thing... Yeah yeah. Langers getting boring. Whatever criticism of Paine is minuscule compared to his brilliance as a gentleman, as shown by his solidarity with India when the racism debacle was occurring. He is a fine captain deserving of the role
