‘Crazy if they didn’t’: Suns coach fuels Dusty rumour despite legend’s ‘surprise’ at links

Gold Coast coach Damien Hardwick says the Suns would be “crazy” not to investigate the possibility of luring Dustin Martin to the club as one AFL legend declared he was surprised it was a consideration.

“Dustin’s a contracted player at Richmond. That’s obviously for Dustin to decide and Richmond to work their way through,” Hardwick said. Martin’s lack of significant impact so far in 2024 moved AFL legend Leigh Matthews to question why the Suns would chase the veteran. Martin’s premiership teammate Shaun Grigg joined staff last year and another flag-winning teammate, Alex Rance, also has a part-time role at the club.
