Police and military on the streets at the height of COVID-19 lockdowns traumatised refugees and asylum seekers who had fled war-torn countries and didn't understand what was happening, an inquiry has been told.

"The restrictions created a massive breakdown in trust. People were not treated the same way in Bondi.

"Information was shared from interstate and overseas so there was a lot of confusion and discrepancy between the rules. When the lockdowns became more inconsistent it was distressing for everyone. It was challenging for us to put messages through." "There was a need to convey trusted information. It created a lot of fear and triggered trauma seeing helicopters overhead, and they didn't know if they'd done something wrong."

These folk would have been worse off in the war torn countries they fled from and are now safe here.Hopefully lessons have been learnt on both sides. However at the end of the day everyone had to deal with Covid and the lock downs.

Everyday Australians traumatised by state COVID restrictions, over reach by Labor governments for political not health reasons ?

I loved having choppers fly over our house for months on end

WTF?

They traumatised everyone

People who lost loved ones to covid are traumatized too.

Funny how our 2 national broadcasters never stick up for actual Australians! We are suffering from an authoritarian government who governs for a foreign power and SBS says nothing.

Many state premiers acted like dictators, locking people down, and even prevented people from crossing state lines to come back their own home.

Absolutely RUBBISH

Lock up any officer or politician who enforced the mandates, assaulting people over a mask for a virus that did fuck all

Sadly worldwide and now in Australia Police Forces and Military obey the orders of Politicians and attack innocent citizens who dare to protest. The stupid use of Police on horseback in a protest in Melbourne reminded me of a scene from the Planet of the Apes! Police mentality.

Ffs!

THIS AFFECTED EVERYONE

Victoria

Hey remember that time people were saying the cops were engaging in police brutality and then the police tried to ban media helicopters from filming them

Darling SBS. I am traumatized that I couldn't support my husband in hospital with cancer because I did not take a gene therapy from the least trusted companies in the least trusted industry. By the way, it looks like this mRNA isn't breaking down. Why don't you report on that?

They traumatised everyone - like toddlers while their parents were arrested for not wearing masks and women who they brutally assaulted on the streets. Haven't you seen all the footage?

I live in one of these 12 areas. It was helicopters all day every day and into the night. It was psychological warfare. Designed to terrify people into complying. I understood alright, they were trying to scare the hell out of us. This country is not free.

I’m sorry but it traumatised everyone. Including the People police were brutalising. Australia persecuted the unvaccinated and dissenters, it’s been absolutely horrendous.
