Once the pub closes, it's kind of all over. The Little Topar Roadhouse on the Barrier Highway in NSW still sports signage from its past life as the district's only hotel. And pub historian Diane Kirkby, a professor of law and humanities at University of Technology Sydney, said there was a new wave of closures underway.
