Several countries said they would resume AstraZeneca vaccinations after Europe's medical regulator said the jab is 'safe and effective' and not associated with a higher blood clot risk.

It is currently a vital part of Covax, which was set up to procure COVID-19 vaccines and ensure their equitable distribution around the world.

The head of WHO Africa said Thursday she hoped the controversy surrounding the British-Swedish jab would not deter people from getting the vaccine on the continent, where more than 16 million vaccine doses, mostly AstraZeneca, have been distributed under the Covax scheme."But we hope that will not create doubts around anti-COVID vaccines in general."

Italy, the first European country to become engulfed by the pandemic, held a national day of mourning Thursday, with a ceremony in Bergamo, the northern city that became known as"Italy's Wuhan". Images of coffin-laden camouflaged trucks crossing the city at night quickly became one of the symbols of the pandemic and still haunt the country today.

This was never anything other that political posturing by the EU...just a little Brexit payback. How else does one explain EU member nations hoarding Astra-Zeneca, refusing to send it to other nations in desperate need, and then blocking its use in their own country?

Australia slams Europe over missing AstraZeneca vaccine dosesA war of words has erupted between Australia and Europe over COVID-19 vaccines with Prime Minister Scott Morrison saying millions of vaccine doses ordered by Australia simply “did not turn up”. “3.1 million of the contracted vaccines that we had been relying upon in early January when we’d set out a series of targets did not turn up in Australia,” PM ScottMorrisonMP said. I don't see anything wrong when other countries take protectionist measures. It's the karma catching up with this government. You close borders to own citizens and separate families. The media believes Scotty from marketing all over again!!!!
