Council defends free worm farms as opponents label smart bins a waste of money | smh_andrew

A Sydney council is giving away worm farms to residents as part of a multi-million dollar rollout of new waste and recycling services which has divided the community.

But the new “smart” bins, fitted with microchips that allow the council to monitor how much rubbish is generated, have been labelled a waste of money by some residents and councillors.“The system is fraught with issues, as chips can be damaged and the system falls apart,” Liberal councillor Rory Amon said. “The real kicker is that many bins being replaced are already brand new and not in need of replacement.

But the council is adamant that most bins had exceeded their use-by date, with the cost of fixing and replacing them rising every year.

They will produce power at 10% the cost of any other solution with units as small as a house producing 500 megawatts 24/7 from tiny amounts of cheap fuel.🤓⚛️

Retirees worldwide may run out of money 10 years before they dieFrom the US to Europe, Australia and Japan, retirement account balances aren't increasing fast enough to cover rising life expectancy, the World Economic Forum has warned. . I blame modern medicine. Why wouldn't we? Changes left right and centre to superannuation rules, every time there's a big change you pay a sometimes questionable adviser up to $6K to figure it out. Interest rates are so low we're forced into equity which is akin to gambling. It's a debacle! Retirees will run out of beachside houses before then
