Recent department figures show there were 4,185 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in care in Queensland, which made up 42.5 per cent of the total number. "In the US they have done a comparison study between white children and African-American children and determined that the tools operate in the same way for both sets of children," he said.
"A number of factors also relate to past experiences and contact with child protection organisations and it almost becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Once classified as high risk, it's almost impossible for families to reduce that level."Calls for tool to be overhauled He said the cultural obligations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people "extend way past" the view of the traditional western nuclear family.
"We know what works in Brisbane, California, isn't always suitable for Brisbane, Queensland," she said.

In fact, child protection authorities are so concerned about NOT removing at risk Aboriginal children, that these kids remain in unsafe situations for longer than non indigenous children. That should be your story.

Authorities are condemned when they remove indigenous children who are not safe! When something happens to a child in a community, the first place people look for someone to be held responsible is the authorities!

How about a tool called accountability? Try putting that into some of our indigenous communities and see what changes. The atrocities committed against these kids by their own negate just about any call for cultural consideration. These kids deserve all the help they can get.
