A coronial inquest in Far North Queensland examining the disappearance of Markiah Major in 2023 has heard from friends and police, as well as family, who have described their heartache.

A three-day coronial inquest into the disappearance of a teenager in August 2023 has concluded in Cairns .

A cap and a car he is believed to have been driving were found in bushland. But despite multiple searches and public appeals for information, he has not been found. Detective Senior Sergeant Wallwork said police led three searches of the "rough and dangerous" bushland, which is inhabited by snakes, wild pigs and potentially crocodiles."It's a similar search pattern to someone with dementia," Detective Senior Sergeant Wallwork said.
