Although more than 150 of today's 191 Victorian cases are under investigation, cases associated with known outbreak are also climbing.
Other new cases are associated with the Aitken Hill Primary School in Craigieburn and family clusters in Truganina, Patterson Lakes/Lysterfield, Fawkner and Sunshine West.Victoria has recorded 191 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, the highest number of diagnoses in the state since the start of the pandemic.Of most concern is that 154 of these cases are still under investigation, with just 37 linked back to known outbreaks and none associated with hotel quarantine.
The total number of cases recorded in the state is now at 2824. There are 772 cases are currently active in Victoria.NSW Police Minister David Elliott has said the closure of the Victorian border will last for a "matter of weeks rather than days". "The first message and the last message from the government today is: if you don't have to cross that border, don't," he said."People will be confused, communities will be upset, local businesses will be interrupted; but what we'll always do as a government is to minimise the burden," he said.
"If there is a failure in any of the technology between now and midnight Tuesday night, and you need to cross the border, you will need to be patient," he said. "But you should approach police and explain the situation and we'll work with you."
and I know exactly how horrible it is for my friends and family over there right now! So shut the f**ck up and stay the F**ck home! Thank you
can get your lives gradually back a go back to work so you can make an income! It is not rocket science! Seriously I am so sick and tired of people winging about staying home! Try living in New York then you’ll have something to winge about! I lived in New York City for 8 yrs
stay home it has elongated the whole situation a relapse has inevitably happened due to recent protests etc.. we knew this would happen and now further lockdown! So stop wining and moaning just stay the hell home! So then they can completely contain the damn virus so then you
If ALL stayed home to begin with when it was announced and the whole nation were told to “stay home and save lives” “ We’re all in this together” was constantly in TV and media etc..! this would be over with done and dusted in Victoria but because a handful of people did not
It is not worth punishing the whole Melbourne population (and destroying thousands of jobs in the process) just because of 100s of cases in the north and western suburbs of Melbourne
6 weeks
Wowww
Well it looks like this will keep happening until there's a vaccine, treatment. Anyone person who is the age range of death (mostly 70+) or people with serious medical conditions, should be in lockdown, everyone else is fine!
kipmurkomen Partey after partey😲😲
What 4weeks it’s for 6weeks and my head is about to explode idontconsenttolockdown!!!
kipmurkomen We as mere citizens will just watch you at a distance for the ignorance waiting our fate here in Kenya
Although it’s highly inconvenient for most of us, it’s a shitload better then postcode and petty border politics which drives the wrong behaviours
Government bungling
I’m a parent of a child at a school that has student to student transmission - yet it’s not been mentioned - schools are not safe!
Close down shopping centres there is too broad a definition of shopping for essentials
Sack the health officer and the government this is complete madness
Yep, thanks to all the scum that can't listen to simple instructions. Well done
Total lunacy . What a continually inept politician . We have lawyers ruining this country. Lockdowns do not work ! We had one two months ago . Protect the vulnerable and stop indoor gatherings .
Its time to embrace the horror.
I’ve locked down once, done all the right things too...not doing it again because of Dan and Jenny’s fuckups .. What are you going to blame next Dan ? The weather ? disasterdan COVID19Vic
Time for a protest march this Saturday
‘Expected’ Says who ?
Thanks to careless people plus those returned travellers & security guards for flouting the rules. Assholes. I feel sorry for small businesses who will have to shut down again.
robcorr Just do the whole state. Based on past actions the post code thing will see people doing anything they can to get around it.
Asher_Wolf Snowflakes. You'd figure Aussies would be snorting Covid by now, they're the Trumpists of the Southern hemisphere (except for the great DrHCaldicott, who's there fighting an entire continent of Crocodile Dundee coal-barons all by herself).
The lunacy.
This is Melbourne
Infections Keep Rising [Coronavirus song 6]
If you have a illness that brings your immune way down stay home. 99.9999% of everyone else will be fine.
Speculation helps no one.
As he must. Thanks a lot you people not isolating and testing, everyone suffers now ... businesses, school kids, sport. What happened to ScottyFromMarketing doing the 'we need you, the community, to play your part in stopping the spread,' doesn't want to help Dan I guess?
What places in regional Vic? There are hardly cases in any part of regional Victoria?
Pure hysteria.'For people younger than 45, the infection fatality rate is almost 0%. For 45 to 70, it is probably about 0.05%-0.3%.' - Dr. John Ioannidis, C.F. Rehnborg Chair in Disease Prevention, Professor of Medicine, of Epidemiology at Stanford.
This is absolute BS. What happens after 4 weeks if we have another round of infections? Back to lockdown. The people of Melbourne need to protest.
does this means cinemas wil have to close.... again?
This is f**king BS from Chairman Dan.
this will NOT work. people will be to pissed off to abide by the rules and we'll be worse off than ever
Please stop feeding this media hype - deaths have not risen and ICU cases have not gone up.
