Western Australia Premier Mark McGowan said the state is preparing for the Perth arrival of a flight from Johannesburg with 257 passengers on board.

"No passengers will be permitted to avoid the quarantine. But without a police exemption, if they have to go to another state or something like that, obviously, they will," Premier McGowan told media. "All passengers presenting with complex health needs, or those who are unwell or immunocompromised, are expected to remain in CBD hotels where they will be close to hospitals. So we're currently working with the state health incident coordination centre to get the appropriate staff over to Rottnest to support this."
