Coronavirus update: Bolsonaro says 'so what' when questioned on Brazil deaths, Johnson names son for NHS doctors

Jair Bolsonaro has consistently downplayed the severity of the crisis.

"So what? I'm sorry. What do you want me to do?" Mr Bolsonaro said when asked this week about Brazil's death toll surpassing 5,000 — more than China.Meanwhile, inmates at a prison in Manaus, a city deep in the Amazon that has been hit hard by the coronavirus outbreak, have taken seven prison guards hostage.

"This May 1 is especially serious because of the death of more than 5,000 Brazilians, victims of the negligence and omission of a government led by the most brutal and heartless head of state among all the countries of the planet," Brazil's former president Dilma Rousseff said, speaking at a May Day event on Friday.A photo posted by Boris Johnson's fiance Carrie Symonds shows her holding the newborn Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson.

Ms Symonds announced the name on Instagram beside a picture of her and the boy — who already has thick hair resembling the blond thatch of his father.grandfather while Lawrie came from her grandfather.

The main points from Scott Morrison's latest coronavirus update - ABC NewsThe Prime Minister and Chief Medical Officer urge people to download the tracing app to speed easing of restrictions, while another large support package to help keep aged care resident safe is announced. I cannot think of a single thing that promotes that is not promoted as though the Australian people can't have this if they don't do that (e.g. download the coronavirus app and that will speed up easing restrictions, eat your broccoli and you can have dessert). Demeaning. So our future is based on the number of app downloads and not medical science? That type political blackmail is not a good look and only for the naive. I think he's worried that the app may go the same way as John Howard's Terrorism fridge magnets. Fascist at work.
