Sky News host Peta Credlin says the ongoing coronavirus crisis proves the federal governments needs 'to be in charge of all entry points' into Australia.

Sky News host Peta Credlin says the ongoing coronavirus crisis proves the federal government needs "to be in charge of all entry points" into Australia. With the Ruby Princess cruise ship contributing the most deaths from coronavirus to Australia and the Artania refusing to leave the coast of Western Australia there are quite clearly "lessons to be learnt".

Ms Credlin said along with the "national government" taking back control of all "entry points into our country," Australia should also "not be entangled in a web of international rules that makes it harder for us … to do what's best for Australia". "Out of this crisis, we've got to look at how our own governance here in Australia works; too many layers, too many bureaucrats; too much duplication and waste".

Why can’t masks be worn to stop virus spreading even home made masks

But hang on...are you saying that Immagration and customs were not at the terminal to process the disembarking passengers?

How about you start with the cruise ships, say about 2 or 3 weeks ago. Stop the boats! (Does not apply to boats holding rich sick people).

I thought they were.

Should have done it when he pounced on the label 'pandemic' before WHO or anybody else.

Great when they have been letting in all the infected pricks for the last 2 months!

And supermarket entries...

Yeah you'd think that wouldn't you

Especially the subterranean gates to The Undercity

I wonder how our indigenous community is coping with the virus?

'Beware of complacency' amid COVID-19 news | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Peta Credlin says although there are early signs of Australia's daily infection rate plateauing, 'beware of any sense in the media … that we've done anywhere near enough to bring this crisis under control'.\n\nFederal Health Minister Greg Hunt and his state counterparts struck a deal on Tuesday to integrate private and public hospitals to increase Australia's health care capacity amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.\n\nThe minister also announced an increased capacity of ventilators, and intensive care beds.\n\nMs Credlin said it has always been 'absolutely essential' Australia avoided an 'Italian-style meltdown of our health system'.\n\nShe also mentioned how after a 'couple of weeks of ever-tightening social distancing rules' there are early signs in Australia 'that new infections, are starting to plateau'.\n\n'Beware of complacency,' Ms Credlin said because the experts in this field - epidemiologists - will want to 'see days and days of plateauing, and then falls' before there are any moves 'to ease social distancing rules'.\n Failed Abbott Chief of Staff Peta Credlin... Peta Credlin analyses new JobKeeper package and its impacts | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Peta Credlin runs through what the government's extensive $130 billion JobSeeker package will mean for everyday Australians, business-owners and employees. \n\nBusinesses will be paid a fortnightly wage subsidy of up to $1,500 per employee if their turnover has decreased by at least 30 per cent due to the coronavirus crisis.\n\nThat $1,500 payment will be transferred to the employee as the government seeks to incentivise businesses to keep their employees on the books during the pandemic. \n\n'You couldn't pay me enough money to be the prime minister right now,' Ms Credlin said. \n\n'He is dealing with an enormous crisis of the like we've never seen'. \n\n'This truly is unprecedented'. \n\nImage: Getty \n\n All this means to me is that us net taxpayers will have to pay for it. I see no reason to prop up the likes of Qantas with taxpayer money when other businesses will suffer just as badly and get nothing. Sick of it. Everyday, all day. bloody Covid 19. It goes on and on. Destroying our economy because China and our many Governments threw us under the bus and China is poised like a vulture to pick our bones. Australia is about to become Australasia. Souls sold to the China store. Unless she spoke of the “Debt and Deficit Disaster” that will ensue, or apologised for her part in that chapter after the GFC, then any words that come from her mouth will continue to be nothing but propaganda.

Govt should 'take an equity stake' in Virgin Australia | Sky News AustraliaCentre Alliance Senator Rex Patrick says the government should “take an equity stake” in Virgin Australia rather than just granting a loan to the company, which was struggling to keep afloat amid the coronavirus pandemic. \n\nMr Patrick told Sky News “there are similar downsides for a loan and an equity stake but significant upsides for an equity stake”.\n\nHe said “the taxpayer would likely make a profit” once the pandemic passed and the market “restores back to normal”. \n\n“It is not the same thing as owning a company outright,” he said. \n\n“The Australian government should not simply be handing out money to companies left, right and centre.\n\n“We do need to have a multifaceted approach.”\n\nImage: Getty Senator_Patrick So they get lumbered with a stake in an under performing airline and then have the political problems when you have to continually have to contribute funds when needed or go to offload its stake. Senator_Patrick Nationalise it all. Senator_Patrick I hope the Government does not entertain this option, with or without healthy competition. If they go under, someone else will come and start up a new airline in Australia !

Tens of thousands of Britons ‘desperate to get home’ from Australia | Sky News AustraliaAn estimated 35,000 Britons on tourist visas, working holidays and others on short-term stays in Australia are “desperate to get home” right now, British High Commissioner to Australia Vicki Treadell says.\n\n“We also know that in the last three, four weeks, about 30,000 have managed to get back on the commercial flights that are available and continue to be available,” she said.\n\n “Just in the last week, about 7,000 managed to get on those flights.”\n\nMs Treadell told Sky News Britain’s first priority is to keep commercial airlines flying but would consider chartered options if a lack of airlines required such a mission.\n\n“We have been working with the airlines to try to persuade them to keep flying,” she said.\n\n“Where the government will lay on what are called repatriation flights is really only where the commercial options have ceased to exist and there is no other way home.\n\n“Only in that context will we look to facilitate a chartered airline to compensate for the lack of commercial options.\n\n“That is not currently the situation here in Australia.”\n\nFor British people capable of remaining in Australia through the COVID-19 pandemic, Ms Treadell said “maybe it is best to try to stay here and see this out”.\n\n“The people we really want to focus our attention on are those who need to go home – particularly our most vulnerable.” Send em back Let Britain arrange for and pay to bring them home. Send them home the way they sent us here..... for shits n giggles....

Australia should 'take an equity stake' in foreign owned airline | Sky News AustraliaGiven Virgin Australia is '90 per cent China owned' and 'paid no tax' on $23.4 billion revenue for five years, the Australian government need to 'take a share in the company' rather than giving it a bailout says Centre Alliance Senator Rex Patrick.\n\nThe airline, which recently stood down 8,000 employees, has lobbied the government for a $1.4 billion rescue package.\n\nSenator Patrick said Australia does need to 'protect our aviation industry' and ensure there are 'two players in the market,' but the answer is not a federal loan, rather the government needs to 'take an equity stake' in the airline.\n\nHe told Sky News host Peta Credlin given Virgin 'has paid no tax over the five years [between 2013\u002F14 and 2017\u002F18] on $23.4 billion worth of revenue' if the government did 'hand that company money … most taxpayers would find that offensive'.\n\nHis idea would see a situation where 'we help the company out after the coronavirus,' end up with the aviation sector returning to normal, and 'the taxpayer could actually make a profit'.\n\nImage: AP Senator_Patrick Why bail out on overseas owned company ... how unaustrailian is that !!!!
