The Australian Health Protection Principal Committee says the BA.4 and BA.5 Omicron subvariants are associated with increased immune escape. People who test positive to COVID-19 more than 28 days after ending isolation due to a previous infection should be reported and managed as new cases.Who is most at risk of COVID-19 reinfection?

A previous infection, as well as vaccinations and boosters, all play a part in adding to your body's immunity, making the chances of getting severely ill far less likely in subsequent infections. But different strains might cause more severe symptoms, such as delta, which is likely more severe than beta.COVID-19 may become like the flu, where reinfections occur but we don't necessarily get tested for them.
