A Melbourne venue has launched into customers in a Facebook rant for a post-lockdown dog act it called ‘crippling’.

But one venue on the city’s famous Little Collins St was left “heartbroken” after more than half of those who booked failed to rock up on Thursday night.

on Friday morning that has since been liked more than 2000 times, Cherry Bar said 13 of its 20 bookings were “no shows”.RELATED:“Cherry can only host 20 people inside at the moment,” the post reads.“Getting the full 20 people is critical.“From today we just have to introduce a $25 booking/holding fee, which will not be refunded if you don’t turn up.

“When you cripple us by booking and then not attending, well … we have to charge you $25 for not allowing us to fill one of our coveted spots.Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews on Monday announced the easing of restrictions for the hospitality industry“Melbourne’s cafes, restaurants and pubs can reopen,” he said.

“Outdoors with a limit of up to 50, indoors up to 20. Density limits, record keeping and COVIDSafe Plans also apply.”

Many venues charge a $10-$20 per person deposit. If you’re not planning to turn up, it soon separates you from the rest.

More than fair, I’ll happily pay a booking fee

More division tactics pushed by the media to further divide society and get people fighting each other. Straight out the playbook. Noone falls for this anymore!

Totally agree for a booking fee upfront that is deducted from your total bill. All venues should be allowed to do same as they need to survive and if you do like it then stay home ! Support local businesses 👍

Take $ more as a holding totally rude to no show like that

100% Fair.

Did they not learn from sydney?

Completely selfish and totally understand the disappointment by the venue

More than fair.

Totally fair... or give up their place if they are 10 mins late.. so many would have loved to go to cherry & missed out

Sounds fair! 'From today we just have to introduce a $25 booking/holding fee, which will not be refunded if you don’t turn up. When you cripple us by booking and then not attending, well … we have to charge you $25 for not allowing us to fill one of our coveted spots.'

Youth of today. Old school decency would require you to call and cancel. This is not like Tinder dating no-shows...

That’s terrible that people do this & have the decency to contact a venue if you can’t go. I’d black list these people in future or make them pay per seat 💺

No bookings - walk ins only

Just be quiet.
