A COVID-19 patient has died at Orange Hospital, taking the national death toll to 21. 9News

With Fraser Island in lockdown, one of the island's biggest employers SeaLink Travel Group look towards the future.

SeaLink Travel Group, proactively shutdown the resorts to keep visitors and staff safe, general manager David Hay said. The company is a major employer within the Fraser Coast region and the temporary closure has left hundreds of workers without a job for the foreseeable future."We haven't fired anyone or made anyone redundant, but we have stood down quite a number of people in this difficult time and we are obviously working with them."

While the doors are closed for now, Mr Hays say the company are staying optimistic and are focusing on the future.
