Wearing a mask while outdoors will now be mandatory in metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire, and those who fail to do so could face $200 fines as of Thursday unless they have a reasonable excuse.

With assistance from Victoria Police and Emergency Management Victoria, businesses in high-risk sectors will be targetted. “The more we help businesses to strengthen their infection control measures within the workplace, the better chance we have of bringing down local transmission.”Zach Hope

'Laissez faire' model should guide Australia's COVID-19 response | Sky News AustraliaSky News contributor John Ruddick says he believes a “laissez faire approach” should guide Australia's economic response to COVID-19.\n\n“I believe people should be looking after themselves,” he told Sky News host Peter Gleeson.\n\nMr Ruddick said “economic carnage” had been wrought upon Australian businesses due to the restrictions enforced to slow the spread of the virus.\n\nHe highlighted Sweden’s hands-off approach to the virus, where very few restrictions were enforced in a bid to develop herd immunity in the population.\n\n“Sweden took a big hit in terms of the fatalities early on, but the Sweden death rate has come down very sharply and now it is basically next to nil,” Mr Ruddick said.\n\n“We’ve got to man up in this country and stop all these subsidies'. \n Nope...laissez faire is debunked over and over. It’s treachery, just stop. Translation: John is comfortable, sod the rest.
