A man has been charged over an alleged failed plot to import hundreds of kilos of cocaine into Australia that washed up on beaches across the east coast.
Speaking to reporters, Australian Federal Police Detective Superintendent Adrian Telfer said it would be alleged the man co-ordinated the importation of 565kg of cocaine into a “very remote” West Australian town last year.It will be further alleged the same man attempted to co-ordinate another import of 900kg of cocaine into waters off the coast of Brisbane that was unsuccessful due to adverse weather.
Detective Acting Superintendent Brad Phelps from the Queensland Police Service said it would be alleged the same man also ordered others to commit arsons in Bulimba and Balmoral between May and August 2023.
