A woman who was stalked by convicted sex offender Anthony Sampieri tells a court police did not take her complaints seriously — he went on to rape a seven-year-old girl in the toilets of a Sydney dance studio.

A woman stalked by a convicted sex offender on parole said she felt"denied" when she reported his obscene phone calls to police, a court has heard. One of them today told a court she did not think police were taking her complaint seriouslyThe woman, given the pseudonym HB, gave evidence at a hearing into a police officer accused of failing to properly investigate Anthony Sampieri over series of lewd calls made to women in Sydney last year.

Senior Constable Andrew Bruce was charged with neglecting his duties after he allegedly failed to take action against Sampieri over the harassing phone calls."I was fearing for my life ... I was very scared for this man to get to me, it wasn't what he said but the way he said it, it was very creepy," the woman told the court. The court heard how Senior Constable Bruce accessed a police database while investigating Anthony Sampieri and would have seen his criminal history.

"[Senior Constable Bruce] did not notify community corrections of that adverse contact at the time and that he was on parole." "I said, 'Does he have a criminal history?' and he said, 'He had a minor history but he's not very well'," she said.
