Extreme ideologues who conflate sex and gender are “confusing a whole generation of children”, according to transgender activist Debbie Hayton. Dr Hayton, who completed her transition eight years ago, says many activists don’t understand basic biology. Some activists, scientists and academics have argued sex is not a binary between male and female but rather exists on a spectrum that includes people born with unusual chromosomal development.
“Sex is male and female, but by conflating these ideas of personality and gender into it, we have confused a whole generation of children and confused society as well,” she said. “By confusing language, people don’t know how to think anymore”. She said this has manifested itself in the rise of Self-ID, where a trans person does not have undergo any physiological or medical treatment before changing their sex on official documents.
