After the issue with the computer system — known as the Sunrise EMR — came to light, a memo was sent out warning that the last digit on a prescription had been repeated in some cases.The memo was sent on Wednesday night via the organisation’s Clinical Solution Support Centre, according to“The EMR Project is aware of an issue that is intermittently impacting medication order dosing in Sunrise EMR,” the memo read.
“Prescribers should review all orders in the order entry worksheet prior to submission and correct the dose as required. “Nursing and Midwifery staff should be alert to high-dose medication orders and follow-up with prescribers prior to administration.” SA hospitals that use the Sunrise EMR for clinical use are the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Royal Adelaide Hospital, Noarlunga Hospital, Mt Gambier and Districts Health Service and Port Augusta Hospital.In a statement, SA Health said all sites that used the Sunrise system were notified as soon as the organisation became aware of the issue.
