Melbourne evening commuters have been left stranded due to a power fault which has severely delayed almost every train line. There are major delays on the Craigieburn, Sunbury, Alamein, Belgrave, Glen Waverley, Lilydale, Frankston, Werribee, Williamstown, Cranbourne and Pakenham lines due to a power fault. The entire Upfield line has been suspended.
A train service will continue to run between Coburg and Upfield however delays are likely. Trains on the Sunbury and Craigieburn lines are running direct to and from Southern Cross and not via the City Loop. The department said an overhead power fault near North Melbourne was responsible for the issue. “There are significant delays for all other lines that use the City Loop or North Melbourne Station,” it said.
