McKeon eyes yet another record to round out the Games
Emma McKeon, already the most decorated Commonwealth Games athlete ever, could scale one last landmark in Birmingham. McKeon is expected to equal the Australian record for most golds at a single Games - six - in her final swim in Birmingham on Thursday morning .Emma McKeon has become Australia’s most successful Commonwealth Games athlete.McKeon will swim her eighth event in Australia’s heavily favoured women’s 4x100 medley relay - the last race at the Birmingham pool.
After the final day’s heat sessions, the Australian swim team has confirmed starters in each of the nine night finals.Peter Bol looked like he did that in his sleep - very smooth stuff as he smashed his heat on the second lap. Eased off with the best part of 50 metres still to go - finished with a time of 1.47.01 and never troubled.
Not so good for fellow Aussie Charlie Hunter though. He missed out in the first heat of the men’s 800m – his time of 1.49.94 had him finishing fifth in that one and he’ll go no further in the event.Australia wobbling in the cricket
