After a cold start to winter, Australia’s south is set to face another cold snap this weekend, bringing with it low temperatures, damaging winds and in some regions - snow.

New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia are in the firing line for the ‘polar blast’, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.“A cold outbreak developing from the weekend is expected to bring a return of strong winds, low temperatures and more snow,” the BOM Tweeted on Friday night. Temperatures are expected to stay below 19 degrees during the first fortnight of winter in Sydney - which hasn’t happened since the year 2000.

Melbourne will also see a cold snap, that isn’t expected to ease up for at least another week, while Adelaide will see wet and cold conditions lasting well into next week.If you’d like to view this content, please adjust your

Manufacturers caught in energy crunch are ‘stressed and traumatised’Sanctions on Russia, outages in Australia’s ageing coal-fired power stations, and a blast of cold weather are fuelling a sharp rise in east coast energy spot market prices. Loy Yang would be handy about now.... Ask govt to slap on the wrist of energy retailers. Introduce governance. Stop 10 to 20% gas export like (malaysia did with chickens.) Acting like ukraine and russia war is core to everything. So that you can send the troops. Just propaganda and lies frm media is bad for country Let's turn off all our coal and gas plants then! It'll take time to do this well. I think a great intermediate step would be to stop coal asap and depend on gas, until renewable or something else can do the lot properly. Gas would be a decent improvement on coal, short term
