Coca-Cola Amatil has slumped to an $8.7 million net loss for the June half as the closure of restaurants, cafes and pubs in the COVID-19 lockdowns hit sales

and the drinks giant took a $101.2 million impairment of its Indonesia division.

Total revenue for the ASX-listed beverages business was down 9.2 per cent to $2.19 billion, which was ahead of the $2.15 billion consensus estimate of analysts surveyed by Bloomberg.Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation fell 19.4 per cent to $370.5 million, with the company attributing this to the impact of COVID-19 on sales, as the share of its higher margin drinks sold at restaurants, stadiums and hotels was slashed by widespread government-mandated venue closures.

Despite the loss, the company will pay a first half dividend of 9 cents per share, unfranked, on October 13. This is well down on last year's 25 cent interim dividend.
