Coalition and Labor go head-to-head in election cash splash l LisaVisentin

The Coalition is spending about 40 per cent of its $28 billion campaign war chest on health and education, as it fights for an historic 12 years in power in NSW.

At least two thirds of the cash splash is capital spending on new projects such as a $1.3 billion redevelopment of Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital, and $2 billion for a north-south rail link to Western Sydney Airport.Treasurer Dominic Perrottet, whose office supplied the figures, dismissed Labor's claims the government had a secret plan to privatise more state assets to pay for its commitments.

“Either the Berejiklian Government has no intention of keeping their spending promises or a massive new wave of privatisations is imminent if the NSW Liberals and Nationals are re-elected," Mr Park said. Labor has also pledged $500 million to extend early childhood education to every three-year-old, while the Coalition promised a $120 million investment to ensure before and after school care is provided at all public primary schools by 2021.
