In a notice of appeal, Mr Porter’s lawyers argue Justice Thawley erred in several ways, including finding that the information given to Ms Chrysanthou was confidential; and by accepting the evidence of another of Kate’s friends, James Hooke, about a meeting he attended with Ms Chrysanthou.
In a statement on Friday, Mr Porter’s lawyer Rebekah Giles said her client filed a notice of appeal late on Thursday which included “an appeal to the decision of His Honour to substantially redact text messages between Ms Dyer and ABC journalist, Ms Crabb”. Ms Giles said Mr Porter did not object to the release of documents on Thursday including the full transcript of Ms Dyer’s ABC interview, and the dossier compiled by Kate, “however out of respect to the family of [Kate] will not be commenting on it in any detail”.
