Chris Dawson to stand trial on allegations he murdered wife Lynette. 9News

Chris Dawson is headed to trial on allegations he murdered his wife on Sydney's Northern Beaches nearly 40 years ago.

Mr Dawson applied for a permanent stay of proceedings, citing extensive pre-trial publicity through a podcast and the delay in charging him. But a Supreme Court judge ordered he should stand trial and that decision was upheld today by the Court of Criminal Appeal."The Court agreed with the primary judge that the prejudice to Mr Dawson caused by the pre-trial publicity and delay in this case is very serious," the summary read.

'It's do as I say not as I do' in Victoria right now: Chris Smith | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Chris Smith says the Victorian government allowing people to go to the bottle shop, visit a brothel, do what they need to do at the newly established drug injecting rooms, but not allow elective surgery - is just 'whacky'.\n\nThe remarks come amid Victoria's Deputy Chief Health Officer Professor Allen Cheng, giving an update on restrictions, said elective surgery was not COVID safe.\n\n'That has got to be the worst attempt at explaining the health advice, we have heard for a year. I don't even think Dr Cheng is convinced elective surgery should be banned at the moment - of course it shouldn't,' Mr Smith said.\n\n'And it gets worse, it's do as I say, not as I do in Victoria. The latest is, that many politicians are ditching wearing their masks, both inside and outside Parliament House - they've been sprung,' Mr Smith said.\n\n'What a fabulous example they're showing.' Normal behaviour for this bunch of nutters! It’s not just whacky It’s cruel and speaks volumes about these people in the Andrews Government They should be hanging their heads in shame with how they have treated Victorians Instead they pat themselves on the back and think they’re great humans News flash you aren’t !! 👎🏻 Due to this so called pandemic we urgently need all statistics about how many people missed on elective surgeries and how many people actually died because of it. I bet politicians and their unelected CMO will never ever published such report.
