Want to know what China's thinking? Look to its science fictionAliens, robo-nannies and folding cities: A new wave of Chinese science fiction authors offer a unique perspective on the country, and the future of technology. There's not going to be a future of technology if China, among others, doesn't rapidly curtail the environmental destruction caused by its economic systems. I doubt it will though; capitalist greed can't be legislated away. . China already has dystopia with mass surveillance and concentration camps. How many of the science fiction works focus on soul-embodiment, Self-Realization, individual sovereignty, following the inner knowing of your heart and no longer projecting power onto a male ruler? . Not sure the writer of the article has actually read much science fiction. There is a reason many prefer to call it speculative fiction, very little of it is predictive and much of it is actually socially and politically subversive. 'Approved' writing is propaganda, nothing more.
