In a speech at the Arctic Council, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo accused the Chinese government of using the polar region as a point of territorial aggression, noting the US planned to beef up its Arctic presence in response.
Outside of these eight nations, there are more than a dozen “observers” who receive invitations to Council meetings, but have no voting rights. China outlined its ambitions for this in a policy white paper released last year, noting it had its eye on the development of oil, gas, mineral resources and other non-fossil energies, fishing and tourism in the region.
Speaking from Finland this morning, Mr Pompeo stressed the rule of law must prevail for the Arctic to remain peaceful. Just last week, the Trump administration warned China’s growing involvement in the region could eventually lead to a military presence.
What does China want? The whole world?
Why? It supports Israelis land grab.
