‘Childish propaganda’: Dutton savages Labor’s response to Coalition’s nuclear push

Peter Dutton has unleashed on Labor's response to the Coalition's nuclear push, accusing the party of"childish propaganda", as he sent a message to state premiers refusing to support his plans. Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has blasted Labor's"childish propaganda" in response to the Coalition's nuclear power plans as he vowed to stare down premiers opposed to reactors in their states.

Labor immediately rubbished the move, with Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan posting an image of a Gippsland waterfront altered to include multiple nuclear rods and three-eyed fish from a well-known episode of The Simpsons. "The time and the obligation now is for the Prime Minister to step up, to leave behind the sectional interests and the factional games, and to stop the juvenile banter," he said. "With 400 reactors operating worldwide today, more than 30 countries using nuclear power, and some 50 countries looking to introduce it for the first time, the facts continue to disarm Labor's childish propaganda.

We will answer people's questions, we will alleviate concerns, we'll speak about the social benefits.

"For Australians, the next election will also be a choice about the type of leadership and the character that they expect from their Prime Minister," he said.
