If not for Jim Joyce, Ash Barty would probably not still be playing tennis, writes PETER PSALTIS.

PETER PSALTIS is the host of 4BC's Wide World of Sports in Brisbane. Catch his show from Monday-Thursday at 6-7pm!I cried because I was happy for Ash winning and fulfilling a childhood dream. Ash's mum and dad

Look at the way Ash always handles herself, never a bad word is said about her. That comes down to her magnificent upbringing. I know Ash has her team now headed-up by Craig Tyzzer but I think in moments like this, it's right to acknowledge those who helped along the way. If not for Jim, I don't think Ash would still be playing the game. He's had a profound impact on her life on and off the court.

I enjoyed being on the court with Ash because it was clear early on that she was a special talent and a special person.

Agility, toughness and sticking to a plan — how Ash Barty sealed her Wimbledon dreamAsh Barty's Wimbledon dream is finally achieved — but what does it mean, how did she do it, and what's next for the new champion? To fight the speech censorship blocking of big media political interests, we need Gettr! She's a brilliant player but what I like most is her humility Great example for all Australians What a fantastic morale booster for Aussies in some tough times. I noticed replies mentioning her Aboriginal ancestry which I did not know. No mention on her twitter profile both her parents are British imigrants. In saying that what a great achievement well done Ash. 👍👍👍

'So proud': Australian tennis legend Evonne Goolagong Cawley says she knew Ash Barty was a championTennis legend and Wiradjuri woman Evonne Goolagong Cawley has paid a heartfelt tribute to 'little sister' Ash Barty, saying she just sensed it was 'her time' to win Wimbledon during NAIDOC week. Such a wonderful distraction from the issues in NSW Both Aussie legends. In saying that I do find it strange that some keep mentioning Ash being Aboriginal. Ash herself never talks about that, its not even in her twitter profile.Yes her grandmother is Aboriginal but both parents are English. Does it need to be mentioned? 🤷‍♂️ We really never make anywhere near enough fuss about Evonne Goolagong. Such an extraordinary Australian athlete and inspiration to all, especially women and Aboriginal people. Ash is following in Evonne’s footsteps, carving her own legend.
