Any attempt at saving a child from torture is a step in the right direction, then going forward, the family law court needs sorting out. Listen to the experts and peer-reviewed research indicates morneeds to be implemented to stop and shine a light. Never forget Daniel Moorcombe

Why stop at Family Law? Even high income earners can be crippled by the courts. Prisoners are mostly low income earners. Justice is purely for Corporations & Mega rich Justice_For_None

They want a national register but went to great lengths to get a suppression order on a high profile case

Narjen53 Oops! I think Herr Dutton has dropped the ball again. He is so focused on throwing people even kids into Island Prisons which we pay a fortune to upkeep. He doesn't see what's happening here.

The only state Dutton wants is a police state. Spin over substance is the lnp way.

Qldaah Like all other institutional abuse cases, proceedings are concealed. Abuse thrives in these types of situations.

This government is only intrested in cheap headline grabs.

Dutton’s MO is the same as Trump’s - push the fear button and leverage extreme policies from the community’s sense of insecurity.

EXACTLY!

Many children being harmed right now by domestic violence and family disfunction. We need to address this issue which is just as important.

Dropping a 'royal commission' on every institutional problem doesn't always solve the problem. You can't truthfully say that a national register won't do anything, that's ridiculous. A register would undoubtedly give power to families (and vigilantes) to keep kids safer.

Paedophiles, terrorists, kids out of detention,What's next? No doubt digging as deep as possible to get some dirt on the opposition. The dying throes of a chaotic government.

He doesn't want a Royal Commission because it would take too long and he has to get back into Gov by May ,he is just capitalising on the peoples hate of sex offenders.

Listening to the Australian news daily, its hard to believe that anyone is 'keeping us safe'.

We already have registers accessible by parents, working with children checks, and very onerous offender reporting obligations. Dutton’s proposal adds nothing of value and won’t protect children any further. He’s just grasping at the old desperate ‘terrorism/paedophiles’ straw

Why do parties always find a negative against each other, why not say hey it's good they are working on helping kids, here are our ideas let's work together.. you know.. for the good of the kids and not political points

We already have a child sex offender register. This is nothing more than a desperate attempt at positive PR from a government on their last feet.

No they want more police state surveillance of everyone. Any excuse will do. We are the potential threat to unfettered corporate greed. So we have to be watched.
