Israel Folau and Raelene Castle are set to come face-to-face in the star fullback’s code of conduct hearing on Saturday, which will also feature NSW Rugby boss Andrew Hore and Rugby Union Players’ Association chief executive Prataal Raj in a potentially landmark hearing.
Nonetheless, Castle is preparing to give evidence – a very likely scenario - in front of a panel that features chairman John West QC, Rugby Australia’s representative Kate Eastman SC and RUPA’s selection John Boultbee as well as lawyers from both sides.Folau has enlisted Adam Casselden as his barrister, while Justin Gleeson SC is RA's legal representative.
Meanwhile, Wallabies centre Samu Kerevi insists he feels supported and comfortable continuing to express his Christian beliefs but says the thought of any footballer getting sacked for doing so does not sit well with him. It prompted him to write a tongue-in-cheek apology that was reported by several news outlets as a genuine apology.
"I feel supported and we all do at the moment," Kerevi said. "I’m in a good place. I’ve spoken enough about that and I think people know where I stand with my faith. I can’t speak for everyone.
