Independent MP Andrew Wilkie says the introduction of cashless gaming cards will be “the biggest shakeup in poker machine policy” since they were legalised in the 1950s.

“A card-based play with a pre-commitment function – there is no doubt it will reduce gambling addiction,” Mr Wilkie told commentator Steve Price.

“If people are allowed to set their own limits before they enter the binge, the gambling zone, they’ll probably set a pretty good limit, a pretty sensible limit.

Chalmers says essay not calling for return of ‘clapped-out ideological model’ from 1950sTreasurer Jim Chalmers says his recent essay extolling the merits of values-based capitalism is not calling for the return of some “clapped-out” ideological model from the 1950s. “My essay is a throw forward, not a throwback,” Mr Chalmers said during a media conference on Sunday. “In fact, the ideas in the essay are not especially controversial - they align well with the modern supply-side economics being pursued by my friend Janet Yellen in the United States.” It is funny that the clapped-out economics of the 50s produced growth and wealth in Australia, created the Lucky County, what have modern economic produced, debt, inflation, dependancy and a rich elite. 30yr plan for a 3 yr term like neoliberal model of the 80s is doing great and is totally not ideologically 'clapped out'

Athletes at risk of being ‘labelled’ if they ‘sit on the fence’: Andrew BogutFormer NBA championship player Andrew Bogut has encouraged the NRL to concentrate on rugby league and not get distracted by a ‘Respect Round’. He said athletes are not allowed to “sit on the fence” anymore and are forced to take a side. “You can’t sit it out because you get labelled straight away,” the Rogue Bogue Podcast host told Sky News host Paul Murray. “It is not as easy as saying ‘if you don’t want to wear a rainbow flag, or if you don’t want to support X agenda or Y agenda, just don’t do it’ – it doesn’t work that way anymore.” Yep. I'm certainly not interested in the political views of sporting teams. They should stick with sports and leave the politics and social engineering to others. If you want to know what Andrew Bogut thinks about 'Respect Round' just look at his timeline

‘Hypocrite’: Andrew Bogut blasts Pat Cummins for keeping energy sponsor moneyFormer NBA championship player Andrew Bogut has slammed Australian Test captain Pat Cummins as a “hypocrite” for keeping sponsorship money from an energy company which uses fossil fuels. Cummins refuted claims that his opinion on environmental issues cost Cricket Australia a $40 million sponsorship deal with Alinta Energy. Mr Bogut admitted that he had sponsors he did not agree with but said he never turned around and told people not to use the product due to its harm to the environment. “Donate that money back, Cummins, then I will listen to you,” he said. Fair call. Why don't these people just kick or dribble a ball instead of using their 'platform' to make this a better world? Virtue signalling clown. Why doesn’t he publicly come out and say he would rather use Russian oil then Australia’s own energy reserves. These people are so out of touch and have no clue how to run an economy. Australia’s footprint is minute compared to China.
