WATCH: The footage shows his Holden launching over a median strip and hurtling head-on towards oncoming cars, before skidding close to a building and flying into the air. 9News

The incident in Geelong, which was captured on CCTV, played out on April 26, when the male driver suffered a medical procedure and lost consciousness as he approached a busy intersection.

The footage shows his Holden launching over a median strip and hurtling head-on towards oncoming cars, before skidding close to a building and flying into the air.Incredibly, he manages to land in a parking space with his vehicle in one piece and the wheels still spinning. The man was taken to hospital as a precaution and won't face any charges or further police action , but Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner Stephen Leane says incidents like this must be taken seriously.

"Whether it's a medical episode, or whether it's a medicine-induced episode, is very similar to whether it's alcohol or illicit drugs. The impact is exactly the same." The concept of being “fit to drive” is something police, medical professionals and VicRoads are dealing with on a daily basis - and they say it's a discussion each and every motorist must have.

You mean a medical EPISODE, not a 'medical procedure' - a procedure is an operation or some other sort of intervention by doctors.
