A car fire at South Terrace is adding to traffic chaos for those travelling north on Kwinana Freeway. The freeway has reopened but traffic has been reduced to a single lane and drivers are urged to exit at Canning Highway.

A burning car on the Kwinana Freeway has added to traffic chaos as Perth residents head home from spending the long weekend down south.The freeway has reopened but traffic has been reduced to one laneEmergency Services WA has issued a smoke alert warning for people travelling north on the Kwinana Freeway at South Terrace.

The incident brought much of the traffic to a standstill with the road closed for a period and then only one lane opening.Sharna Kearney, joint CEO of the Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association, said it had been a busy weekend, which was typical for Easter in most years — except 2020. “Operators have been reporting that they’ve been pretty full, certainly from an accommodation perspective,” she said.
