A cap on international arrivals will not be lifted despite the fact thousands of Australians stranded overseas are desperate to come home.

More than 18,000 Australians abroad want to return but exorbitant airfares and the government cap are preventing them."That's why I am not lifting the caps," he told reporters in Canberra on Friday.

The prime minister hopes there will be more room to move once Victorian and NSW case numbers come down. "Right now we are in a situation where globally there are about 260,000 new cases of coronavirus every day."Australia is slashing international arrivals by half. The WHO said weeks ago that it is unsustainable to keep national borders closed and that we need to return to business as usual. But Scotty and co adopted their dead-end position months ago and will be damned if they risk political capital by changing it.

Why do not propose to this people to be monitor at home by a electronic wrist band? They do this in Hong Kong and looks like it works fine.

Not wise to lift the caps but wise to leave your fellow Australians stranded? Away from their families? Away from their partners? 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 IStillCallAustraliaHome

This is ridiculous. There are so many Aussies stranded abroad and there is no assistance! If you're famous (Kidman, Minogue, Stokes) then you dodge the Public Health Order, and if you're rich but not famous you pay inflated prices for Business class because of the caps.

Idiotic government

Those question ‘Australian’ in their replies should knowledge, Australian is never a special race or ethnic people. It’s been formed by lots of people from different countries in different colors. In past, present and future. Google Australian Cuisine may stop some arrogancy.

I thought Australia was a signatory to an international treaty that prohibits this.

Australians 🤔

'Australians.'

Go somewhere safe and free. Not here

These are pretty much all Chinese and Indians who didn't feel like leaving their real home.

Unless they’re student flying in from Singapore?

looks like Australia is in a state of war.
