Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has used the opening of a major exhibition in Canberra to defend the problematic legacy of French post-impressionist Paul Gauguin, warning against the toxic reach of “cancel culture” in public life.
As well as exotic landscapes and culture, Gauguin depicted women and young children in Tahiti and the Marquesas Islands.
