A Canberra man has been sentenced to four years in jail for the manslaughter of his partner, after he injected her with heroin during an anniversary celebration.Weaver has been sentenced to four years' jail, but will be eligible for parole next year.
He maintained he would water down her dose, but on that night in August 2021 Weaver said she had asked him not to "dupe" her. Weaver called triple-0, and the court heard by the time the ambulance arrived he was distraught, yelling "come back to me, come back to me, don't die".The evidence showed she had suffered diabetes and had a complicated medical history, having undergone a pancreas and kidney transplant.
In another phone conversation, captured later by police, he said "I don't murder — she was the f***ing love of my life."
