A media cameraman has been hospitalised after wild scenes took place outside an ultra-Orthodox synagogue in Melbourne last night.

Other commentators have been more critical of the response from authorities, saying the optics of targeting the Jewish community on a holy night does not sit well with them.

Religious gatherings are not permitted under Melbourne’s lockdown rules — and many of those who gathered yesterday have been issued with $5452 fines.Police fined several worshippers. I was against crowds gathering before but seeing how they exempt international travel and will defiantly bring in new variants from abroad these crowds are less a worry
