Camden High School in south-west Sydney will be closed on Friday after a member of the school community tested positive for coronavirus.

"We expect that in the next 24 hours we'll be talking about at least one, possibly more, cases of transmission," Health Minister Brad Hazzard said.A NSW Department of Education spokesman said Camden High School was working closely with NSW Health to establish close contacts.

He did not confirm whether the infected person was a student, teacher or parent in the school community. "Students will continue to be supported through existing learning from home arrangements while the school is thoroughly cleaned over the weekend," the spokesman said. "NSW Education will continue to work closely with NSW Health to ensure that all necessary health advice is adhered to. Further advice on when the school will resume on-site classes will be provided tomorrow."

On-site classes at Lane Cove West Public School will resume on Friday, after the school was closed for deep cleaning on Thursday.

These stories should be free to read.

AnthonyCole68 Interesting that nearly all cases are from schools, but what is more interesting is that there never seems to be a source of infection, and it never spreads past the one school infection.

2 in 2 days, but schools are safe. COVID19Aus auspol nswpol

Sydney school closes after Year 2 student tests positive for coronavirusIt's the fourth instance of coronavirus within a Sydney school community in the past month, but comes amid flatlining community transmission in NSW across the past seven days. Wasn't it not too long ago when people were saying children won't catch the virus? Something something immune? Wait but Scotty told me the virus can't come in to schools unless it's invited, like vampires. This is a great opportunity for former ABC employees to give back and offer the parents free daycare
