Kevin Graham bought a collection of 150 model ships a year ago. He's astonished to have sold all but three of them in the following 12 months.

When Kevin Graham replied to a collector's ad selling a "few" model ships , he stumbled upon a treasure trove.

So, who is building them now, who is buying them and what do people do with them once they are complete? "Eighty per cent of the shop is plastic model kits and the rest is wooden ships you actually have to build," Mr Hale said.Mr Hale, who is ex-military, said the majority of his customers were male. With at least 32 shipwrecks off the south coast, maritime history is very important to the development of New South Wales.

"We have to be selective because we have a collection policy developed by the museum that only accepts items related to the local area of Jervis Bay."This veteran was in the shower when his navy warship collided with an aircraft carrier. He considers his legacy
