Already a subscriber?A Federal Court judge has ordered Bruce Lehrmann to pay almost all of Network Ten and Lisa Wilkinson’s multi-million dollar legal costs after aIn a decision delivered on Friday afternoon, Justice Michael Lee ruled that an independent referee would investigate how much Mr Lehrmann should pay the network and its former star presenter.
Ten defended itself by arguing the facts disclosed in the episode were substantially true – and won. Justice Lee found, on the balance of probabilities, that “But the reality of mixed findings has also been somewhat obscured in the public statements of the respondents and their submissions as to costs, which advance the assertion that they ‘won’ the litigation and that costs should axiomatically follow the event.”
